Do you cringe when you need to type an email? Do you stress about formatting? Then this is the post for you!
Emails are usually less formal than a typed letter, but more formal than a text. Here is an example of a simple, effective email.
I wrote this email with Emmy Favilla's email suggestions in mind. They come from the book I mentioned in a previous post called "A World Without Whom." Here are Favilla's suggestions:
- Open with a simple "Hi." If using their name, no comma is needed.
- Get right to the point. There is no need for fanciness; you do not need to ask how their week has been or come up with a unique intro.
- Sign the email with your name. You could use "Thanks" or something similar if it is appropriate.
Other helpful information:
- Use bullets for long lists
- Do not use ellipses
- Do not use emoticons
That's it! It's pretty simple! Think of it as semi-formal: not too fancy and not too sloppy. Try it for yourself!
